How Bartering Works
- 1
Build your profile and Garage
Add services you can offer and goods you would like to trade, from house cleaning to a couch or golf clubs.
- 2
List what you have to offer and what you are looking for in return
Describe the service or product you need and what you'd trade in return. You can offer skills, products, or a combination with cash to make up the difference.
- 3
Match & agree
A neighbor picks an option or proposes a counter. Agree on what each person provides, any cash amount, and timing in the message center.
- 4
Trade & review
Once goods are handed over or services are completed, leave a review of the specific trade.
An Example Exchange
Here is how a real barter plays out in the message center: a light back-and-forth, a formalized agreement, a completion confirmation, and a review.
Marcus T.
Trade Agreement FormalizedMarcus's snowboard repair ⇄ Landon's 2 drum lessons
Fri 9:12 AM
Hey Landon! I saw your snowboard repair request. I can fix that small base scratch Saturday morning. I noticed you teach drums - what could you offer?
Fri 10:03 AM
Hey Marcus, that would be great. I could do 2 x 45-min drum lessons, or 1 lesson plus a custom 8x10 walnut cutting board from my shop. Your call!
Fri 11:41 AM
Honestly the cutting board sounds awesome, but my daughter has been bugging me for drum lessons. Would you do 2 lessons if I also tune the edges and wax the board?
Fri 12:15 PM
Deal. 2 x 45-min drum lessons for the minor base repair, edge tune, and wax. I will bring the wood shop story another time.
Fri 12:20 PM
Sat 4:30 PM
All done! The base scratch is repaired, edges are tuned, and the board is freshly waxed. Photos in the chat below.

Leave a Review: How was Marcus's snowboard repair?
Once both sides leave reviews, ratings apply only to the skill performed.
What Does a Fair Trade Look Like?
Start with time, effort, condition, and value, then agree on a trade of goods, services, or both. Cash is optional.
Trade goods or services. Pay the difference.
Not every trade is a perfect one-for-one swap. Your skills or products can reduce the cash price if the other party agrees. Fully cashless trades are still welcome, and cash is always optional.
Agree on what each person provides, any cash amount, and timing in the message center before committing.
Fair Trade Suggestions: Every member (free accounts included) gets 1 automated equivalency suggestion per inquiry; Pro unlocks unlimited suggestions and counter-offer assistance. These are starting points, not guaranteed values. You decide together whether to swap directly or include cash.
Built on Trust, Backed by Community
Trading goods and services with neighbors should feel reliable, transparent, and safe.
Fair Reviews
Offer multiple skills? Reviews apply only to the trade performed. For example, a mechanic performing an oil change won’t be rated on their piano lessons.
Credential Verification
No formal business license? Showcase your skills with photos of your finished work. Pros can verify licenses and IDs, while everyday creators let their portfolios do the talking.
Dispute Protection
Keep your chats and trade agreements inside our message center. If an issue arises, our team investigates using the on-platform agreement records.
